Why I Write: A poem by Ivana Domozetska

Can you learn how to be a good writer?

Yes and no. You can learn the skill, but you can’t learn the creativity.

A good writer has creativity, thoughts, feelings, passion.

A good writer has flow, wit, a style, a flourish.

What if I don’t have my own style or no ideas at times.

What if my work lacks the creativity that can’t be learned

Why do I write if no one reads it

Why do I write if my words just get lost and forgotten

People, stories and history can live on with words

Will the people, children, who never wrote be remembered

Will the children who couldn’t speak to say their own name be remembered

This is why I write, for those who can’t write for themselves.
