On 12th November 2026, Community Action Portsmouth (CAP) is running a community assembly to explore how the public can get more involved in decision making locally and nationally. CAP believes that decisions that impact people should involve people. If given resources and legitimacy, communities can provide the solutions to the problems facing them.
CAP is inviting Portsmouth people to come along to Portsmouth Central Library from 7-9pm on 12th November to help identify what communities need in order to be heard. Outcomes will feed into a wider national picture via Our House, ‘a movement for people-powered democracy,’ as their website explains. Their ‘mission is to transform politics by building a democracy that gives everyone the power to shape our future. A future that works for communities, because it was designed by communities.’
Our House seeks to ‘do this through People’s Charters: communities’ demands for the changes they want to see in how local and national politics works.’
Attendance to the event is free but please book via this link here.
