Groundlings Theatre is taking Shakespeare on tour, bringing two classic Shakespeare plays to the gardens of Stansted House in July. Both plays will be performed in classic dress, with Romeo & Juliet starring an all-male cast. The Groundlings team report.

This year, Shakespeare’s most famous story of love at first sight and his sparkling comedy of misunderstandings head to Stansted House, with Groundlings Theatre performing two Shakespeare classics, Romeo & Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing.

Both plays will be presented in traditional Tudor dress with Romeo & Juliet played by all-male cast, as it would have been in Shakespeare’s time.

Artistic Director of Groundlings Theatre, Richard Stride, who directs both productions said, ‘Nineteen years ago, Groundlings Theatre Company first started as a Shakespeare touring company. In the years after, we travelled the UK performing to some wonderful audiences.

‘This summer we are proud to return to our roots and go back on the road and we are looking forward to sharing our summer nights this year with new audiences and some beautiful venues.’

Much Ado About Nothing will be performed on 27th  July and Romeo & Juliet on 28th  July  with both starting at 7.30pm. Both shows are open air and tickets can be booked directly from the Groundlings Theatre website or by calling the box office on 02392 737370.
