S&C rugby commentator William Payne reports on Pompey’s lucky escape from a tough game to see them sail through to this weekend’s match against Warlingham.

Last week PRFC had a lucky escape to go through to the 3rd of intermediate cup, after opponents Crowborough had to pull out of the fixture due to a high number of injuries. Portsmouth now await the announcement of their 3rd round match up.

Even though Portsmouth were looking forward to the fixture, they also had many injuries and knew it would be a tough game. However, the cancellation will give the injured players another week to recover and may be able to return against Warlingham this weekend.

Crowborough have not had the best starts to a season, having no wins to date.

Lucky for Portsmouth, they did not have to endure the weather, yet instead were able to watch England trample South Africa. Always a good replacement.

More to follow later this week with the match report from Portsmouth’s away fixture to Warlingham in the league.
