Star & Crescent is a not for profit community news, views and satire website written by and for the people of Portsmouth.
Since we began in 2015, our small team of volunteers have worked with hundreds of residents, activists, community groups and organisations to tell the stories that matter most to Portsmouth people – stories that are often under-reported or completely missing from the local mainstream news.
And we’ve done it all for free. Now we need your help.
Like all local news outlets, S&C works in a challenging financial climate. But unlike the others, we are 100% independent. We don’t have a wealthy corporate owner or shareholders, and because we don’t accept advertising or sponsorship, we answer to no one but the local community.
Quality, investigative journalism takes time and to expand our team and our news coverage, we need a regular, sustainable income.
