We’re currently looking for Contributing Editors to source and write content for each edition in specialist areas best suited to their expertise.

We’ll need you to write at least 2 articles per issue and source at least 2 more.

We do not expect you to sub-edit or proofread articles from external contributors, but we will need you to line-edit, i.e. suggest changes and liaise with the contributor to finalise copy.

We are currently looking for Editors with interest in one or more of the following subject areas, particularly from a Portsmouth angle:

  • Visual arts
  • Literature
  • History
  • Politics
  • Social issues
  • Fiction
  • Poetry

All submissions in all subject areas must fit the aims of the Star & Crescent ‘Manifesto’.

Interested in being a Contributing Editor for Photography or Visual Arts?

We need photographs for every article that goes on the site (in our first edition, we had just under 40).

In terms of visual arts submissions, we are open to discussion with co-editors on this: we would welcome, for example, online exhibitions, single artworks or individual cartoons.

All images for articles must have a relationship to the city, or respond to the article itself.

For visual arts, we are open to submissions and welcome pitches for online exhibitions or single pieces.
